Molly Haynes (b. 1992) is a Los Angeles-based weaver and artist focused on tactile sculptures that explore structure and materiality. Her work echoes the tension between humans and the natural world.
Haynes utilizes unconventional materials such as raw plant fiber and salvaged marine ropes to construct undulating forms which blur the line between natural and manmade.
Haynes earned her B.F.A. in Textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design and went on to design for the interior textiles industry, gaining a deep understanding of fibers and the construction of cloth. Haynes' practice is now solely dedicated to handmade works that are free of utilitarian constraints.
